A news image can be a powerful tool for getting people's attention. And Patricia Campos Mello, a journalist at Folha, Brazil's largest daily newspaper, says that is exactly what happened when images of babies born with microcephaly headlined her country's newspapers and television broadcasts last year. Patricia says Brazil's press and government were slow to acknowledge the potential seriousness of the Zika virus, despite a string of warning signs, until it had a human face attached to it. But the link between Zika and microcephaly is still to be proven, while other mosquito-borne illnesses, like dengue, continue to plague people across the country. Bob speaks to Patricia about how journalists are covering the Zika virus and its unknowns, along with how the outbreak is influencing public debate about abortion and women's issues in Brazil.
